L'elisir d'amore - Donizetti
Our rendition of Donizetti’s beloved opera was skillfully directed and designed by Rory Fazan, with Matthew O’Keeffe conducting. The weekend featured a special children’s performance in collaboration with Hampshire Music Service, as well as two performances to 500 guests.
2021
Il Turco in Italia - Rossini
Following a year of postponement, Scherzo performed Rossini’s The Turk in Italy. This fantastic cast featured Galina Benevich as a Fiorilla, who’s previous engagements have included performing Queen of the Night at Glyndebourne. Directed by Charlotte McKechnie, designed by Laura Pearse and Ruth Darling.
2023
La Cenerentola - Rossini
We presented La Cenerentola at Longhope on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd July 2023 and recieved 550 guests over both performances. Longhope regular Matthew O’Keeffe returned to conduct, forming a creative team with Rosie Kat & Fenna de Jonge – a young pair from the Royal Welsh College who’s frequent collaborations since 2020 have marked them as a team to watch.

Don Pasquale - Donizetti
Our spectacular production of Donizetti’s comedy was masterfully directed and designed by Rory Fazan, with Matthew O’Keeffe conducting. With a team of almost 70 this production was our strongest yet.
2019
Il Barbieri di Siviglia - Rossini
In July 2019, Scherzo staged The Barber of Seville at Longhope . The star cast included Benedict Nelson as Figaro (Glyndebourne 2019) & Margo Arsane as Rosina (National Opera Studio 2019). The production went on to tour London, with a run at Charlton House and performances within arts festivals in Canary Wharf and elsewhere. Directed and Designed by Sebastian Freeburn.
